Issey Miyake is an innovative fashion brand, combining Japan’s technological strength with tradition. Its creations break the boundaries between East and West and pursue the comfortable relationship between the body and the fabric that covers it, as a fundamental concept to engage and resonate with people the world over. Between the fashion show and exposition, the event introduces a new Autumn/Winter women’s wear collection that targets 26-41 year old fashion industry professionals and passionate fans of the brand.
Working for a brand driven to stand out and impress, the show needed a sophisticated yet minimal design for the invitation and branded items. The black origami envelope was created to recall the traditional aspects of the designer and tease the shapes of the new collection. The white and red save the date invitation emphasizes the logo while presenting clear information about the event. Throughout the project, in a blend of technical straightforwardness and simplicity, the clean and elegant sans serif Bebas was used for numbers and headings, while the technical looking monospaced Letter Gothic was used for text. The blend of the Japanese tradition of origami and innovation was an inspiration for the folds used in the brochure, label, and other applications.
